Mechgem completed another enjoyable wedding yesterday at Turkey Mill http://www.turkeymill.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=50 which is one of our favourite venues, why? Simple the gardens are outstanding, photo opportunities with the car are abundant and most of all it is a venue which still instills such a personal touch. We see many venues but few really stand out. Turkey Mill does.

Coupled with that yesterday, we had a wonderful bride and groom, Jo's outfit came from Heading Up The Aisle http://www.headinguptheaisle.co.uk/ and she couldn't stop smilling.

Cooling Castle Barn 28th July - Mechgem's Austin Princess Van Den Plas

Mechgem enjoyed another fantastic wedding at Cooling Castle Barn on Wednesday 28th of July, we provide wedding cars 7 days a week!

The bride Heather was picked up from Swanscombe and had a lovely drive down to Cooling Castle. Cooling is a lovely venue, the staff are so helpful and accommodating and we think our driver is biased as he always gets given a drink of juice which is a rare occurance in the word of wedding chauffeuring. The ceremony looked lovely the gardens adorned with lovely hanging baskets creating a true Kent country wedding feel. After the ceremony Mechgem took the bride and groom off for an intimate drive in the Kent country side. We always recommend this to brides and grooms to have a few minutes alone after the ceremony. This is something that we offer as part of our service. Both the bride and groom were happy with the car which has plenty of room for 7 people plus the driver. The princess was positioned for photographs with the castle turrets in the background and the Princess drove back to our base at Keston near Bromley, another great wedding with one of our fantastic Classic cars. Ickworth House, Suffolk - 10th July 2010 - MechGem Rolls Royce Open Tourer Going the Extra Mile

This weekend, Mechgem drove to Ickworth House in Suffolk with the wedding car on a trailer because our bride couldn't find one locally and just loved our Rolls Royce Open Tourer.

It is a stunning location belonging to the National Trust, and was the perfect day for an Open topped Wedding Car.

We were blessed with glorious weather and a beautiful bride, what more could we ask for. The groom Martin is in the RAF and looked very smart in his uniform. They had a guard of honour which looked extremely professional. Our chauffeur doug thoroughly enjoyed himself because the family were so pleasant and happy. We did three runs to the church, with the bridesmaids first before returning to collect the bride and her father we were able to do this as the church was a short distance from their home.

Although it was a long day starting for us at 5am and ending at 9pm when we returned to base with the car on the trailer. We were happy knowing that we had been able to provide the car and service that the bride asked for and there isn't a better feeling than that!

Blenheim Palace - 29th November 2008

Hi there sorry I haven't blogged for a while this weekend's wedding was at the stunning venue of Blenhiem palace in Oxford. We took the car on a trailer for the bride and groom and it was a fabulous day all beit a bit cold as the Dback doesn't have heating!!

See our shots below for the fabulous venue and our car of course. The bride and groom were really happy with Mechgem's service and as always we gave our input into the photographs, placing the bouquet on to the car for a finishing touch to the shots.

An anniversary to remember - 9th August

My wife and I went to Hull and back (no not like Del and Rodney!) on our anniversary this year, which just proves how far Mechgem will go to deliver an exceptional service. We met a bride at the national wedding show last year who just loved our Silver Cloud. No local companies would do her wedding so off we went to Hull with the trailer on the back of the car!! I then did the wedding locally and we drove home. It is good to know that these things can be done if needed and infact we will be going to Blenhiem palace to do the same later this year. This pricing is obviously much more expensive but it is possible. The 9th August happened to be our 5th Wedding anniversary and we were glad that at least we could spend most of it together evening if it was driving, we made a couple very happy.

Lee Director of Award winning MechGem Luxury Wedding Cars Limited gives his scoop on what to consider when choosing your wedding car company.

However you plan to get to your ceremony, the following tips from MechGem Luxury Wedding Cars Limited can help you in selecting the best supplier Wedding car supplier for you: -

1) Choose the right style of car for the theme of your day.

2) Always make arrangements to view the wedding car and meet the company before booking

3) Make sure you feel comfortable and are happy with how the car company operates; are there any hidden extras?

4) Make the company aware of your full Wedding Itinerary and your expectations of them for the day.

5) Check the price of the car is in your budget, research a few different suppliers and negotiate on price before making your selection.

6) Always ask if the car can do two or more trips on the wedding day to save your budget. MechGem always offer a free trip in a 5-mile radius of the pick up location. If you are getting married at the same place, MechGem will wait around to provide a photo shoot opportunity and take you and your new husband for a short drive to enjoy the first few moments of married life together. It may be the only chance your hubby will get to ride in the car.

7) Book your car as early as possible to avoid disappointment. If you see a car you like get it booked as there are not hundreds of vintage cars on the road and in some cases only a few of each model were made.

8) Ask how the cars are maintained mechanically, how often are they serviced. MechGem use specific Rolls Royce trained mechanics but this is important.

9) Check the company’s contingency plans in case of a breakdown or mechanical failure.

10) Make sure you have a full understanding of the company’s terms and conditions and don’t’ be afraid to ask questions about them

11) Make sure that the car that you have booked is the car that will turn up on your day. There are many agencies that operate so it is important to establish this to avoid disappointment.

12) Ask if the ribbons and flowers in the car can be co-ordinated to your day and if Champagne is included.

13) Make sure you sit in the car you are booking so you can get a feel of how much room there is for your Wedding Dress and your escort.

14) Ask if you can request a specific driver, this is always good if you are feeling a bit nervous on the day and this will put you at ease with someone you have met before.

15) Ask how the drivers check the route beforehand; Sat Nav does not look good in a vintage car!!
